At the North India Trekking, we have classified trekking in Ladakh into three groups- Challenging, Medium and Easy. The entire region of Ladakh has some of the most fascinating treks in the Himalayas. We do offer treks of all sorts, depending upon the thrill and enthusiasm of the clients. Our treks range from minimum 2 days to maximum of 22 days. All our trekking staffs are well trained in their respective fields, be it the trekking guides who are trained in the most strenuous conditions or the cooks who have got their training from the best institutes. Our trek helps, porters and pony men are very disciplined with their works and are always ready to render their full heart in helping you.

Classic Markha Valley Trek (Including Stok Kangri Peak, 6150m)

The Classic Markha Valley Trek is considered one of the most fascinating treks in the Himalayas. In this trek you’ll be trekking inside the Hemis High Altitude National Park, which is the home for several species of wildlife including Blue Sheep, Wolves, Ibex, Antelope, Lynx and the Snow Leopard. This trek will take you through some of the most scenic villages in Ladakh, with their age old monasteries. In this trek you’ll be trekking parallel to the River Indus on the other side of the Ladakh ranges. The specialty at The North India Trekking is the inclusion of the Stok Kangri Peak in the Markha Valley Trek. The Stok Kangri Peak is 6150 m high and comes under the surveillance of The Indian Mountaineering Foundation.

The Tsomoriri Lake Trek (Including a 6200 mts above Peak)

The Tsomoriri Lake Trek is a recently marked trek. The trek starts from Pang, a village just at the foothills of the Taklangla Pass. This trek will take into the land of the nomads. You’ll come across villages, you’ll come across plains and to add onto your thrill the passes will mesmerize you with their spectacular on the top views. This region is also known as the nestling heaven for around 300 species of birds. There are chances you see certain wild animals also. The trek ends at Tsomoriri Lake, which is one of the largest brackish lakes in Asia. At The North India Trekking, we include one of the peaks that flank the Tsomoriri Lake, which range between 6000 mts to 6500 mts.

The Nubra-Pangong Trek

This is a very specially created program at The North India Trekking. No one else offers this route. Trek starts from a village called Khyungtru which is eastern Nubra. In this trek we will take you into the most beautiful corner of Nubra in Ladakh . You will visit some of the most remote villages within Ladakh. The spectacular aura of this valley is un comparable. From the eighth day we’ll be continuing our trek. Crossing the Nebuk La Pass on the fifth day, we are into the Darbuk region. We will visit the largest brackish lake in Asia, the Pangong Lake on the last day. Two-third of the area of this lake is in China.

Kanji-Chilling Trek

This route is one of the most sought after routes in Ladakh. One has to cross several passes, walk through narrow gorges and cross many streams. All this makes it very challenging and adventurous trek. You will end your trek at the banks of mighty river Zanskar at Chilling. You can choose to do a short rafting trip down the river for half day.

  • Altitude- 3200 meters to 5100 meters

Chadar Trek

The Chadar Trek is one of the most fascinating and adventurous treks in the world. It is on the frozen Zanskar River. Throughout the trek you’ll be in temperature much below the freezing point. You can start the trek from Chilling and along or rather on the Zanskar river, where you can see a very different and harsh winter life of the people of this valley. The trek ends at the same point from where you started.

  • Duration- 12 to 14 days
  • Type- Challenging
  • Best visit- January/February
  • Altitude- 3200 meters to 3700 meters
  • Temperature -20 C to -40 C

Sham Trek

This trek is called the baby trek of Ladakh, for its duration and ease. The trek route passes through some of the most spectacular villages of the Sham valley, which is also known as the apricot valley for its famous apricot trees. This is the greenest valley in whole Ladakh. You can visit a monastery or two on each day of the trek. The trek starts at Likir and ends at Tigmosgang, or you can do it the other way around.

  • Duration- 4 to 5 days
  • Type- Easy
  • Best Visit- October to May
  • Altitude- 3000 meters to 3750 meters
